The Ohio Physical Education Association dates back to 1895. It is credited as being
the first state association recognized by the American Association for the Advancement
of Physical Education. The name changed as the association grew and in 1929 became
the School Health and Physical Education Association of Ohio.
OAHPERD serves HPERD professionals pre-k through higher education. The association is more than 3,000 people
strong and is committed to the advancement of the profession.
OAHPERD is affiliated with the American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance and it's five governing boards: AAPAR, AAHE, NAGWS, NASPE, NDA, and the Midwest District for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance.
